The Esker Project

Esker House Esker Project Badge

The Purple Hand Champaign is an initiative that is inspired from countries experiencing conflict, where women came together and displayed a hand in their window with the aim to inform women that they could gain help and support at that particular place.

Esker House is rolling out our Purple Hand champion. It is our goal to create as many safe spaces in our community that are identified as safe spaces to access information about supports available to women and children experiencing domestic abuse and violence.  We are offering businesses, organisation and groups in the midlands the opportunity to participate in training that will allow them to recognise and respond to DVA appropriately.

Once this training is completed the company will be awarded a purple hand to display within their business or service. This will alert women in the community that they are a Purple Hand Champion, and the establishment of a safe space for women to gain support and information regarding DVA.

The Hopes for this initiative is to create a zero tolerance response to DVA within our community. It aims to prove to perpetrators there is no where to hide and DVA is not tolerated in our community. The success of this work will be reliant on the engagement of our community, stakeholders and supporters.
